Searles, including a handwritten note by his daughter on how she came to acquire the book and what it meant to her father; a typed page affixed to front flyleaf describing his military career (including time in Andersonville Prison); a funeral service announcement tipped into the back of the book; and a newspaper clipping on the First Regiment glued to the back pastedown. Book is heavily worn with chipping to spine ends and damp-stains to corners of text block.
